Free Graphics Software Fully featured photo editing and graphics software, very powerful features using layers, special effects, and other powerful tools.

Blender: Blender is a compleyly free high end 3d modelling application, this is by no means easy to jump into and will require lots of tutorials, late nights and coffee. If you do however want to start 3D modelling at an extremely high level this software will allow you to do film production quality 3D rendered graphics saving thousands of pounds on the industry standard software also on the market. Check out the blender website to see the demos of what can be produced, I guarantee you will be more than amazed.

Free Video Software

Any Video Convertor:- Convert practically any video format to any other format, supports batch conversion and does lots of other processing too. There is an upgrade to the free version, but the free version will do pretty much everything you can think of.

Free Office and Productivity

Open Office: Fully featured office software including word process, spread sheet, database and much more. Very powerful software, so good you will be amazed they give it away for free. This is one of the best alternatives to Microsoft Office and can load and save in Microsoft Office Word and Excel formats too! Very stable and if you have an office full of computers this could save you thousands of pound in software.

Free Antivirus

Microsoft Security Essentials: Free antivirus from the guys at Microsoft, some people love it some people prefer AVG, for me I prefer MS Security Essentials its slick stays in the background and doesn’t nag you as much as the other free offerings out there, for me this is my personal choice.

AVG Antivirus: its been around for many years now and is the first choice for most people. The newer versions look fully feature packed but for me too many bells and whistles and it likes to promote the paid for version. The free version is a non-commercial licence so not suitable for offices. But it’s a good choice if you don’t get on with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Free Web Browsers

Firefox: My personal favourite of all the browsers, lots of great add-ins for web developers and is very stable this is my browser of choice since Microsoft can’t seem to tick all the boxes even after 10 versions.

Google Chrome: Another favourite for me I like the simplicity of Chrome but on the last few updates it had a few problems and I don’t think it renders the text as nice as Firefox, supports all latest browser features so top notch there, in my option better than internet explorer too..
